Description: The Paddy’s Run Flood Pump Station has been an integral part of the Louisville, KY Metro’s Ohio River Flood Protection System, comprised of a series of levees, earthen dams, and pump stations, since 1953.

In 2023, the Louisville MSD replaced the Paddy’s Run pump station and infrastructure and doubled its capacity to 1.9 billion gallons per day to meet projected year 2035 flood conditions. As part of this project, bentonite slurry walls were utilized to control the Ohio River while the pump station was under construction. With these upgrades, this station now serves and protects >200,000 people, >70,000 homes and >60 businesses across the Louisville, KY area.
