Former Shooting Range - Lead Stabilization

Project Details:

Type: Environmental Remediation

Location: Sioux City, Iowa

Description: Environmental due diligence for a cold storage warehouse development identified lead contamination in soil related to a former shooting range. Lead concentrations in shallow soils exceeded hazardous waste characteristic thresholds for toxicity on portions of the site, requiring remediation before construction could begin.

Blastox 215 was used to stabilize over 4,400 cubic yards of lead-contaminated soils at the site. The client used a 5.5% dose of Blastox 215 to stabilize TCLP lead exceedances in the soil, allowing for treated soils to remain on-site with sufficient clean soil cover, as approved by the state regulator. JCE provided treatability and dosage recommendations, followed by technical support throughout the project, including an on-site meeting to discuss blending and remediation approach with the earthwork contractor.
