Position Title: Senior Environmental Project Manager
Position Summary:
Manage and lead project and sales activity in your region: 1) maintain and grow product and equipment sales and business relationships with environmental consultants, remediation, civil, and geo-technical contractors, and heavy industry manufacturers, 2) manage and train Technical Sales Representatives, 3) oversee the preparation of sales and marketing plans for key suppliers and customers, 4) evaluate market potential for new and existing products, and 5) ensure the proper management of key customers, project, and suppliers.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Grow sales and profits by providing leadership for the daily activities of Sales personnel in your region while maintaining a higher-level focus on the company’s strategic goals.
- Service existing customers and projects to ensure Company products and equipment are performing well and meeting customer requirements. Perform periodic account reviews with customers.
- Review and analyze sales data for the region including monthly sales numbers, expenses, commissions, and budgets by individual salesperson in your region.
- Train new Technical Sales Representatives in your region on products sold by the company, the sales process, competition in the region and company culture.
- Find new customers that need Company products and equipment using prior relationships and marketing techniques such as media, email, internet searches, phone prospecting, and face-to-face sales calls, participation in trade groups, attendance at conferences, and trade shows.
- Help prepare product and equipment cost estimates and quotations, write proposals, and make sales presentations. Work with Technical Sales Representatives and inside sales staff to ensure customers get what they need.
- Ensure all sales calls in region are documented in Company’s customer information program (CRM).
- Evaluate market potential for new and existing products and prepare market analysis for key suppliers.
- Observe economic changes in the region and report observations at quarterly company-wide sales meetings. In addition, any pertinent information regarding suppliers, customers, or competition should also be reported.
- Responsible for Customer Service and Inside Sales activity for the region. Discuss order activity, companies, stock outs and sales concerns once a week.
- Where necessary, assist in problem resolution in the event of a quality concern or payment concern at any customer in the region.
- Organize and lead regional sales meetings as necessary.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Demonstrated success in maintaining customer relationships, obtaining new business, or project management in the environmental field.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, state and federal regulatory agencies and manufacturing and remediation compliance requirements.
- History of managing direct reports and teams. Including creating and managing budgets and sales targets for multiple individuals/direct reports.
- Ability to work and act independently and without frequent supervision. Requires business and overnight travel.
- Technology literacy
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree (required) Master of Science Degree or Professional Engineer/Geologist (preferred) in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field.
- Degree in Business or >5 years experience leading large teams and managing budgets and sales targets.
- >10 years experience in consulting, engineering or environmental remediation or compliance fields.
