Description: A large multiphase remediation effort has been undertaken within three sections of the Lake George Canal to remove canal soils contaminated with heavy metals, PFAS, and petroleum hydrocarbons. Remediation of the middle section of the canal was completed between 2022-2023 with over 225,000 cubic yards of contaminated soils removed from the canal and a geoengineered cap was placed. Remediation of the remaining canal sections is underway.
